  • Bassman aa864 master volume mod

    Hi,

I want to mod my fender aa864 to add a master volume ( post phase inverter ). But I have a question... The cable thick does matters? The cable that I have is a XLR mic cable.

    thanks.

    Cable thickness does not matter.

But cable routing and shield grounding can. Try to keep the leads as short as practical and don't ground the shield with anything mains, power amp or filament related.

I think that using such cable may make the job rather more difficult (and so likely to be unsuccessful, especially so if the operative lacks a good level of skill and experience).

          I've done...

yes, it's a bit difficult. But I don't know if I prefer an attenuator or a MV...

Well done, the cable look a bit more manageable than the 6mm dia type I envisaged.
Be careful with its screen termination, can't quite see what you're connecting it to, but you mustn't let it ever risk shorting the blue bias feed wire to chassis 0V.

The blue cable goes to the bias pot, and the shield to the pot ( only one termination ).

              Thanks!!
