  • Wire doesn't spin off spool

    Hi everyone!

I have a few older Plain Enamel PE 42 wire spools, one is from American Wire Corp. made in 2004 for example. The wire doesn't come off easily anymore, while winding, the wire breaks because it somehow sticks to the surrounding wire on the spool. Is there method known, which allows to save this wire? Maybe a slow and contolled wire transfer to an empty spool by any device?

    It wasn't annealed properly.

Respool? Yes. If you've hung on to at least one empty spool you can mount this to your winder, running as slow as possible, and peel it off. What you'll have at the end will be a clumpy, jumpy shitshow to wind with; completely unpredictable, if it holds continuity at all. Hey, wait ...just like a real PAF!

Or clip it, start a garbage bag collection and eventually you can recycle it for enough loot for booze. How much wire are you dealing with and how inspired are you to save it?

How far is your winder from the spool?

Terrible wire. I gave away about 30 pounds of it a few years ago.
