  • Roland JX8P Keyboard Power Issues

    Hi Again,

I need guidance on the power for this keyboard. It came in with no power to the screen and no sound at all. Power seems to be flowing as intended until a 5V supply that goes to the main board. I am reading under 1V. There is a 5V regulator that I have disconnected and the 7V of power off the secondary seem to flow fine. Is the 7805 regulator pinout for Japanese units different from a generic 5V regulator?

Nope, input, ground, output, left to right.

If the 7805 puts out 1v, then either it is defective (most likely) or it is being loaded down.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
