  • Vintage Marantz 8b Audio Amp Selenium Rectifier Replacement

I'm trying to determine which silicon diode to replace the existing selenium rectifier with? Does anyone here know?

I keep a stash of 1N4007 handy, they're perfectly good replacements for lots of rectifiers, including jobs like this. Maybe way over rated in terms of voltage but so what. You may have to add a series resistor to simulate the internal resistance of a selenium rectifier. OTOH that may not be necessary if your fine old Marantz has bias adjustment pots.
This isn't the future I signed up for.

I'd use the common 1N4007, also. Here's a good article on the subject. It includes info on adding dropping resistors for different selenium rectifiers.

Don’t poison yourself. Wear automotive gloves, put it in a sealed plastic bag, clean up with solvent and put the rag in the bag with the gloves.
