I have this friend who due to some financial problems had to sell his Krell monoblocks and bought a Yamaha XS-250 slave for cheap (the Yammie is new,never used).
Until further developments,he'll have to live with it in his hifi system (the preamp and the loudspeakers are the same) but he complaints about the slave's noisy fan (a hefty unit,running probably @ 12VDC w/constant speed....no automatic speed regulation here,unfortunately).Since the audition level is fairy low he asked me to lower somehow the fan's rotation speed to a level that becomes significantly quiet BUT not to stop it completely because of it's obvious function.
Does anybody have any idea how to do it,except the simplest method of a resistor/DPST switch in the fan's circuit?
