Blown speaker

Hello fellow Ampagers.

The speaker (a reissue ceramic Jensen) in my SF Deluxe Reverb is probably blown. I read open between the + and - lugs.
The speaker stopped working after my buddy harp player plugged his microphone in the Normal channel.
I played my guitar through this amp the night before with no problem at all.
Can a harp mic blow a speaker?
Is it possible to repair a blown speaker?
I am afraid that the answer to both questions is a big NO...

You can get the speaker reconed. Test the amp with another speaker, if you can, just to be sure. If the mic fed back, it could definitely burn out a speaker.

Sure I will not recone a reissue Jensen speaker... :-/
Anyway, isn't reconing due when the paper cone itself is damaged? Or is a recone effective also when the voice coil is blown?

recone in either case...but you're right, don't bother reconing a Jensen reissue.

No... the voice coil tube former is fitted and glued to the paper cone. It is almost impossible to remove one or the other and replace it even if you wanted to save the old cone or voice coil.
I don't think anyone would even attempt to replace either the voice coil or cone without replacing the other....

I take a chance now to search for an Oxford 12K5-6 speaker, that was stock in most BF deluxes I believe.
BTW, anyone has one for sale?

as you might already know ( if so, I beg your pardon ) Jensen speakers are now manufactured in Italy, near Ancona; the good news is they directly sell their speakers at :

SONORA : Altoparlanti professionali Jensen Sica

( I've been buying Jensens from them too, BTW they don't rip people off with high S&H fees and they're kind and cooperative ).
