  • Can someone help identifying pickup? :)

    Hello all,
I would like to make myself a humbucker sounding as close as possible to the Univox "honey" humbucker. I think it was produced by Matsumoku in Japan, but I am not sure.
I have not found any specs of it, so as a newbie I really dont know where to start.

the pickup was used in univox: ripper, gimme, eagle, and hi flier from 1976 on (Phase 3 and 4 ).

Then, I found only harmony central reviews:

wow! I just found out, that Kurt Cobain POSSIBLY played the hi flier w/stock PUs in "Rape me" live saturday night show!
    thats finally some audio sample!

it is not sure, but I definatelly like that sound.

I would be very grateful for any advice, suggestion, ...
    thank you a lot

    p.s.
I really like this community, I would like to contribute in some way, but mu skills in this field are miserable..

I have a hi-flyer with two of those humbuckers. When I get a chance, I'll get it from my workshop and check it out.

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein
