  • Peavey 6505+ blown fuse F1

    http://www.schematicheaven.com/newam...ey_5150-II.pdf

Amp stopped working....no sound, standby lamp not lighting. Fuse F1 (2AFB) was blown. I replaced the fuse, everything powered up fine. I played my Ipod into the input, output into a hotplate set to 'load', ran it at high volume settings for 20 minutes.....the fuse held, and all seems ok.

what would cause this fuse to blow?

Dying (maybe now dead) power tube. Are off of the output tubes glowing & warm?

It is possible that a heater failed & caused a temporary problem. If the leftover pieces inside aren't touching anything it could power up fine (just not sound so good, you're down a tube).

It also could have been an arc in a power tube that blew it. Problems with the OT or any connecting / disconnecting loads while the amp is live could possibly do that. If that was the problem there may be no permanent damage.
