  • do your 5E3's sound muddy in the normal channel?

My 5E3's are very very dark in the normal channel, it's usable if you plug the right guitar and go for the right settings, but it's still a very dark sound, I know this is normal due to the circuit nature and the 0.1uf signal caps, but why don't we read about this in places like harmony central where people describe their latest vicky purchase and such?

This is not a complaint when I built my clones I knew this would be the nature of the amp, plus the bright channels more than compensates for this and it is nice to have these two options, but I find it strange that most review (other than the ones found on amp forums such as this one) don't mention this very often.
Anyways I'm digging this amp enourmously, and am even thinking about removing the mods I installed and leave it stock (diferent V1 cathode values switch and fixed bias switch), what a great amp this is... thanks Bruce for introducing me to the 5E3 world... amazing
