Hello my friends.
This amp was left on without any load in the speakers connector.
It blows the mains fuse.
At iddle, the current draw is high, .6A
after a visual inspection nothing looks wrong, but caged inside the power tubes' socket pins and the board it has a thick plastic looking grommet.
On both tubes from one side these grommets are completely melted.
From the begining I was suspicious about the output tranny, which is out of the circuit allready, but there are no color cables as it is a plug and solder in the board type of transformer. Measurements tell me the primary winding could be ok, but I am not sure about the seconday.
When I plug it on, the amp sounds terribly distorted with little volume then, the current climbs, blows the fuse, and there's a stinky little smoke coming out of it.
The only thing I see overheated is the grommets that are caged inside the power tubes socket pins from one side of the amp (let's call the tubes #1 and #2, not 1 and 4 or 2 and 3)
Should I just order a replacement OT then? Thank you..
