Laney Klipp "distortion"

So I fixed a Laney Klipp for somebody...is the "Klipp" supposed to be a nasty sounding fuzz type of distortion?

It isn't a great sounding distortion by today's standards, but in 1975 it was cool to have any kind of built in distortion in your amp. Its a weird design, too. BTW what tubes did you end up using?

I figured as much, just wondering if it was normal!
It's got what look to be original TunSol preamps, and a couple Brimar EL34's
