  • Anyone used this old distortion idea in a pedal?

    I made this once to regenerate old and poorly aligned cassettes - I don't know what happened to it but stumbling across these files made me ask.

    I remember it worked very well yet can't think if I added the L.E.D.s

    It looks a little more complicated than most distortions I've made. 8-)
    Amazing!! Who would ever have guessed that someone who villified the evil rich people would begin happily accepting their millions in speaking fees!

    Oh, wait! That sounds familiar, somehow.

      It's actually an alternate version of the "aural exciter" effect first introduced by Aphex. This adds harmonic content generated by high-pass filtered signal. Because the low and mid content remains unaffected, we hear it as simply crisper sound, rather than fuzz. The fact that the additional content is mixed in with the original unaffected sound adds to that different sort of perception.
