  • Looking for Peavey Amp Tech in Chicago area

Hi. New to this site, and most of you guys are way more daring than I am with a soldering iron.

I've read about some of the Classic 30 mods and have heard some of the clips. I'm starting with the basics and replacing stock speaker with Jensen P12N (yes I am a Jensen Vintage Reissue fan.) After breaking it in I would like to try the more popular mods.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a tech in Chicago area familiar with these mods and amp.

    Thanks,
    John

I realize that you are asking for referrals, but FWIW I am a very experienced tech, having serviced amps professionally since 1973 (I'm a tube specialist, but I service [analog] solid state gear as well). I am located in Berwyn (right outside of the city). My e-mail is: mac1amps@earthlink.net Feel free to contact me to arrange an appt. BTW, my name is Mac.

And those C30 mods are pretty well documented over at Blue Guitar (.org ) so any competent tech should have no trouble, whether they have a PV affiliation or not..
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
