  • Humbucker magnet Idea

Here is an idea for humbuckers.Instead of using a spacer to extend the magnet from one set of poles to the other why not use a bar magnet that is wide enough to contact both sets of poles without a spacer.Just a thought.J

I do reckon that it pretty much already does what you are looking for. Perhpas a wider magnet with holes for the adjustable coil, so you can skip the spacer and have the magnet act like the spacer, but I am not sure of the soundness of this idea, nor the logistics....

When saying "spacer" do you reffer to the steel keeper bar or maybe the Dimarzio plastic holder thingy from the Air series of pickups?

The keeper that the pole screws go thru on a slug/pole screw style of humbucker pickup.

DiMarzio does that on some of their pickups.

The pole of the magnet is on the edge, so you wouldn't want the screws to go through it.

You just want the magnet to touch the screws.
It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

Duh, didn't even think of it like that - So I suppose the OP is just talking about omitting the spacer and having the magnet a touch wider to contact the pole screws directly....
