  • 3 prong power cord installaion on solid state amp

hi, i've done installing grounding 3 prong power cord like that link a couple of times before.
    http://www.rru.com/~meo/Guitar/Amps/...Mods/safe.html

one of my friend asked me to do it to his amp. im just wondering it is same thing for solid state amp too? i just saw his amp and no fuse, there are 2 "death caps" 470uf 600v caps.

    thanx for your inputs.

In any amp, the power cord delivers mains power to the power transformer inside the amp. That mains wiring has no idea in the world what is on the other side of that transformer. COuld be a tube amp circuit or could be a solid state amp circuit or it could be a short wave radio or it could be a fax machibe. Power cords would all install the same. YOu have hot and neutral wires for the main power an then a gound wire that goes directly to a chassis connection.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
