  • New valves for Marshall TSL100

I have used a Marshall TSL100 amp for approx. 500 gigs now. How long before i need to replace the pre amp valves? Or shouldnt i have to change them?
    thanks.

Preamp tubes can last years and years. I usually only need to replace them if they fail.

+1. but it also depends on what brand/model of preamp tube you're talking about. for example, I have some telefunkens with the diamond on the bottom that are supposedly rated to last 10,000 hrs.

general rule of thumb with preamp tubes is 2 yrs or so but it really depends how often you use your amp...

I used a TSL100 for about a year in a hard rock band w/ EMG loaded ESP.

JJ E34L's is what I used and they're great:

This tube has about 20% more head room than the standard EL34 and it also has a deeper, tighter low end. The E34L is also a bit punchier and more aggressive than the standard EL34
