Hi, I'm wanting to build an amp for a high school science project. I am figuring that for the variables I would change tubes to see what different things I can get out of it.

I've heard that building tube amps are not the place to start though... Any ideas if I should attempt this? I have experience with PCB boards and the like so this is not a worry...

tube amps arent too complicated, but the parts (transformers and such, as well as the tubes) can be quite expensive.

But there are plenty of well matured tube amp projects that can be built. Something like the AX84 comes to mind.
