Best way to replace speaker?

What is the best way to get the speaker out of a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue? What needs to come out to make getting at the speaker easier? What should I watch out for?

You will have to pull the chassis out.

Be sure to unplug the amp from the AC. Place the amp face down on a flat surface. Loosen and remove the back panel. I would suggest removing the tubes before you go any further. Also unplug the speaker from the chassis and the reverb wires from the tank. Make a note as to which tube came from which socket and which wire plugged into which jack.

Remove the 2 top chassis mounting screws. When you loosen the chassis, the speaker magnet will try and pull the chassis towards it. Hold the chassis with one hand, and loosen the 2 side chassis mounting screws. When the chassis is loose, pull it straight up to remove it. Place it along side the case. Watch out for the reverb wires.

The speaker is held in with 4 phillips head screws.

Reverse the procedure to install the new speaker and the chassis.

WHen I need to pull a chasssis in an amp like that, I like to turn it on its side. That way I don;t have to fight gravity.

I don;t recall exactly, but in addition to the top screw at each end of the panel, I think there are screws through the sides of the cab. I pull the side screws first, as well as disconnect any wiring that needs to go. Then I turn the amp on its side and remove the two top screws. Now the chassis is standing on end without aditional support, and can be slid out easily without having to support it clumsily.

Just my way, whatever works for you is fine.
