I'm thinking adding a combo amp, something in the 18-22w range, class AB or maybe A, with 1-10" and 1-12" in a tweed- or brown/blackface-style cab. Something to use in the occasional bar band for 40-somethings who play music for fun and have good day jobs. I like both tweed and blackface tone, play mostly strats but occasionally an SG, and am looking for the best of both worlds. I keep landing on the webpages for Allen Amps and Collins Amplification. I know that Allen has a great reputation on the web, but haven't seen much discussion about Collins [who's built amps are priced similarly to Allen's kits].
