  • Well then which tube amp for under $300??? help

Ok, i sold the pignose for $250, which is almost a $100 more then i paid for it.....

I keep getting told since i want a nice deep crunch to get a V Jr , but I have two friends that say i will get more for my buck with a Pro Jr.....

I am in a apartment, i already have an attenuator, Metal Muff monster, and behringer EQ pedal.........

thats all i need for now but man all these tube amps and nothing under 40W or $300 seems to be right. atleast from what i hear.. But come one there has got to be a good one worth the bucks. thats going to do what i need..

I just want to play heavy crunchy rhythm and some lead, country and blues here and there

My mistake I did not realize that I was unclear.. Sorry..I play heavy heavy metal.. which is going to get it??

    Maybe a Blackheart??..

probably should have kept the 40w pignose and turned it into a head

Are you looking for a combo or just amp head? Are you looking to buy new? A quick listing of guitar amps on Musician's Friend | Your Online Music Instrument & Pro Audio Store | Best Prices, Great Service sorted by price shows few options for tube amps under $300. Peavey Windsor & B-52 heads were in that price range.

I can say that the Valve Special won't do it in its stock form, which would also nix the Valve Junior (I'm 90% sure they're the same except for the tone stack and added effects on the VS). I have a VS, not bothered to mod it, and it sounds like crap when you try to do tight metal rhythm, pedal or not.

It doesnt matter to me if its a combo or a cab/head setup.. i dont want just a head unless its under $200. Which kinda throws a wrench in it...

i havent gotten the cash for my pignose 40 yet, so i took it to an amp tech and he looked at and said- That for the price if i was planning on modding an amp ever, then just keep this one.. Then to Just add a 1x15 cab, bigger transformers and add a bias pot...

Then he said the only other thing was a Pro JR, but the tubes are mounted to the board, or something like that??

            I just dont know...

I also didnt think the V JR would do as i wished and If they are better then the Blackheart well that rules them out too..
