  • Transistor crossover - RCA

    Hello,

I have been trying to find a crossover part for RCA 480058A R 7803 output transistor for a Acoustic 220. Also looking for the drivers 2N6474 & 2N6476. Any help would be appreciated.

480058 was just the Acoustic part number. 7803 was a date code - third week of 1978.

The actual part was probably a 2N3055 selecte3d for voltage. In this day and age, I would replace the whole batch of them with MJ15003. DOn;t mix types. Allied currently has 127 of them in stock at $3.31 each. Mouser is cuurently out of stock, at similar price.

2N6474 was a TO220 4A 120v 40w NPN. 2N6476 was the same in PNP. Ancient. I'd be tempted with TIP41C/42C but at 100v, they are just barely enough since your circuit runs on about 90v. So I'd replace them with the MJE15030/MJE15031 or even MJE15032/MJE15033. Those all sell for about 80 cents each.

You can't go wrong with MJ15024 as an NPN power transistor replacement. It's heftier than the 2N3055 ever was.

If you want 'em matched for current-sharing and hFe and have access to Crown parts, they do all of the work for you.

Again, with the 2N6474/6, I believe I have those in stock and can check tomorrow. We acquired parts stock from another shop several years ago, and I just got around to getting them all inventoried and binned. We have TONS of old stuff in stock that I never thought I'd ever need again!
