Got an Crate GT-80DSP from the pawn shop the other day, and maybe I didn't play it long enough, but I got back and started playing on it, and after about 20 min of playing the sound dropped off and got so quiet I almost couldn't hear it. I tried turning up the volume, but it didn't do much. I kept playing for a bit, and the volume started climbing back to where it should have been. It'll be okay for a bit, but keeps going quiet for no reason. That's what I get for buying from a pawn shop I suppose, but does anyone have ideas as to why it's doing this?

Try thumping the top of the amp with your fist and see if the sound is restored. If the amp has reverb, you will want to turn it down first. If this works, then there may be something loose on the circuit board.
Also if your amp has them, try plugging a spare guitar cord from the FX send to the FX return jack. Or use the preamp out and power amp in jacks. If this works, then the return jack will need to be serviced.Last edited by 52 Bill; 01-14-2010, 11:10 PM.
