These are all great suggestions for an AB1 amp. The amp in question is a Champ. That defaults EVERYTHING to what Pete said all the way back in post #3!!! PS resistance, low choke volts, cathode bias, etc. make NO difference if an amp is biased class A because it's already drawing it's max current at idle. All it can do is waver on that center point, never drawing MORE current. If there's no difference in current there won't be any difference in voltage and therefor there will be no sag.
The solution is a different amp design to start with. Or a compressor pedal.
