  • amp repair help

Hello, this is my first post, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I am located in jacksonville fl and I need a good, honest, trustworthy, tone conscious tube amplifier repair person. Over the years I have had horrible luck with amplifier repair shops here in jacksonville. I have had two different guys in jacksonville drop of the face of the earth with my amps. One guy cloesd his shop to take care of his parents and gave me the run around for a year then started ignoring my phone calls about my ampegv4 the other guy did a similar thing but I eventually got my amp back (a peavy ultra plus) without any work done to it. Had another really popular repair guy here put the wrong power tubes in my vibrolux reverb and did not bias it properly causing it to go down after a few hours. My most recent amp repair fiasco is with a warranty repair on a jcm 900 from guitar center. The amp was sent to tallahassee, they have had it for two and a half months and after calling them they said they did not know who to send it to which was b.s. because the address was on the shipping label and also easily gotten from the claim # and its been two weeks since then. so I am weary of anyone right now and have even gone as far as thinking about getting into repair myself. If you guys know anyone I need to get my music man and vibrolux worked on as soon as I get my marshall back. Thanks

Sounds like it's time for you to read a buttload on this stuff and do it yourself. Horrible luck man. Sorry about that.

Really want to learn it yourself? Get a 5e3 kit from Mission and build one yourself.

I'm in Tampa and maybe you've just explained why we see ship ins from Jacksonville and surrounding. There used to be some good guys in your area.
My rants, products, services and incoherent babblings on my blog.

See Jonathan at Jicarilla Circuits. I've used experienced techs all around the country and this guy definitely knows his stuff.
