  • Hammond 125ese in Blackheart LG?

I was wondering if someone can help me with the installation of a Hammond 125ese OT in my Blackheart Little Giant? I was wanting to know if it a simple swap and will the color coded wires from the LG OT match up to the Hammond OT or is there a special code? EG:white to black, green to red,or will it be white to white or red to red? This is just an example of course as I am waitng fot the hammond to arrive and wanted to know in advance what I'm in for. Any help would be great, thanks.

Doesn't the 125ESE have NO secondary wires, just lugs?
The primary wires will most likely be blue-red-brown.
Since the amp is a SE EL84 power tube, you'll use blue and brown and tape off the center tap red.
What you need to know is what lugs on the secondary to use to get the same impedance of the original OT, when used with the correct speaker load. 16 ohms?
I'd need to look at the Hammond data sheet to be sure... it used to be online at Hammond Mfg..

It should also be on the sticker on the outside of the box.

I just finnished the surgery on the LG and it went very well . After some searching on the net I was able to find out what wire goes where . The hammond sounds great and I'm very happy with the tones. I know alot of you use the JJ EL84 but I love the sounds of the Mullard(Russian) EL84 and a Chinese 12AX7.I play heavy rock and love that crunchy bottom end .Here is the wiring code from the Hammond 125ese OT to the Blackheart Little Giant. The primary brown wire goes to the B+ and the blue wire goes to the plate, the secondary wires are orange to 4ohms,green to 8 ohms, yellow to 16ohms and black to the OT ground on speaker jack board, the white wire is cut off and capped,it is for 32ohms which is not used on the Little Giant. I did not get any schematics with the amp or from Hammond so I had to do some searching on the net. Also I have had a volume problem with the LG and come to find out it is the input jack,at 0 volume it is really loud and a wiggle of the input jack makes it go away,so it will be replaced as soon as the part arrives,I hope this helps out some of you who want to add the Hammond 125ese and have volume problems.
Input jack came in and was replaced and works perfectly, going to install a gain control next. This amp ROCKS
