  • Need info for a Pepco Pine 209 Tube Amp

    Hi,

I have a partially complete Pine 209 tube amp I bought as a project. I'm missing 2 transformers, I presume a 115v to whatever is needed for the tubes and the audio/speaker transformer. What should I look for? Does anyone have info, pics, schematic they could let me have access to? The tubes in the thing are; 5Y3 (1 off), 6V6 (1 off), 12AX& (1 off), 6AV6 (2 off). Also, what would the speaker(s) be, 4 ohm or 8 ohm and what wattage (RMS) should I look for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An amp with a single 6V6 should be producing about 5w. I would probably go to the antique electronics supply page and start looking at power transformers. They've got a good generic 8w single ended output transformer that's a dandy. As you do not have a speaker, you're free to choose the output impedance you like, 8 or 4 ohm ought to be fine.

As far as a schematic goes I'd probably build it as a Champ or similar. They're all going to be about the same.

Depending on the size of the speaker a 6 or 8 inch Jensen Mod is a good inexpensive hole stuffer. 15w ought to do it.

      Hi,

thanks for the response, however, I think I hosed-up the tubes in the amp. I just received a few tubes I ordered off of eBay, and the amp actually holds 2 6V6's, 2 6AV6's and I think a 12AX7. This, I presume changes the output wattage. Regarding a schematic for this or a similar amp, any ideas?

      Thanks
