  • Need Help, Crackling With my Dual Rec.

Hello I'm new to this site and hoping someone can help me with my amp, I have a Mesa Dual Rectifier 100 watt solo head and when i play something while palm muting especially on the open low E note, It has a crackle or fizz sound following the note and it seems as though its getting more noticeable or maybe its just me but i can hear the crackly sound behind the notes being played (it happens more on the low notes not so much on the higher notes), it happens on all channels, but when its on the clean channel i have to hit the open low E note hard to hear the crackling. What can it be? Need some help?

Try swapping the preamp tubes and listen if the crackling goes or changes. Or better try new (or known good) tube(s) in every socket.

mesa boogie dual rectifier solo head crackling fixed

I am just posting this just because if someone goes through the same thing as i have, Today I replaced the tubes in the amp still same problem the annoying crackling which i thought the head was pooched so before i start throwing things around i thought for giggles i'll rip apart the speaker box just to check it out, opened up the back panel to the 4x12 cab on my mesa, Everything looks fine and dandy so i start playing through it with it apart, then start playing with the wires AH! HA! the crackling started so i start looking alittle closer i find the smallest wire ever that comes out of one of the cones on the back of the speaker came loose (there are 2 bare wires that come out of the cone on the back of the speaker + and - i think), reattached it (now going to solder it back together) i played through it again and the crackling is gone WOOHOO its fixed.
