  • Fender Tilt Back Legs / Avatar 2x12 Cabinet

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried putting Fender tilt-back legs on an Avatar 2x12 cabinet. Which size works out best, M or L?

They actually come in three sizes, 14", 16", and 19"

The 14" fit smaller amps like Deluxe Reverb.
The 16" fit Twins and Pro Reverbs.
The 19" fit the Super Reverb.

I would think you would want the 16" for a 2x12 cab, but I am not familiar with the Avatar cabs.

I'm a big fan of tilt-back legs, FWIW

Thanks for the size info. I wasn't sure what size legs went with which amps -- your post is helpful.

When I was referring to S, M, L sizing, I was thinking of the 14", 16" and 19" sizes you mentioned.

      I just looked up the dimensions of the cab on avatar's web site. Their standard "traditional" 2x12 cabinet measures 21" H x 28.5" W x 12 " D.

According to the FFG, the dimensions of a Twin Reverb are 20 x 26 x 10.5, and the Super Reverb is 24.5 x 25 x 10.5. So it sounds like the Twin Reverb size would probably work best for the cab oriented with the speakers side by side.

There's just one thing I forgot to consider -- the cab has those Marshall-type recessed grab handles on the sides. Is it still possible to use tilt-back legs with those handles in place? Here is a pic:

I'm wondering if I might have to flip the cab upside down in order to get the mounting hardware in the right spot. I'm not really thrilled about the option of flipping the cab upside down, or the other option of using the longer, Super Reverb type legs along the long sides of the cab, and orienting the speakers vertically.

Hmmm. Maybe there's a reason that I couldn't find any info when I was googling for Fender tilt back legs and Avatar cabinets...

I have a SFSR with the tilt legs, but never use them. The angle of tilt is too great IMO. Hard to use on a crowded stage too. You might have better luck using an amp stand. I have one that has adjustable tilt and has a smaller footprint.

Looking at the pics, as you say, doesnt look like the tilt legs will work with the recessed handles.
