  • Hartley Peavey White Papers

    I found the Hartley Peavey Whitepapers while wandering around the intertubes.

    Peavey.com :: Tech Notes

    I took a quick look at the first one, and it seems pretty good. I've always been a fan of Peavey's products and their design philosophy.
    "Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

    A few years back I did a rather large guitar and gear show with my new amps and after quite a bit of tryouts on my amps, Hartley Peavey came up and sat with me for 15-20 mins talking about how much he liked my amps, amp stuff in general and how amazing it was to him that after all these years, there are so many little "boutique" amp companies out there, how some are super amps and some are just the same old rehashed junk. ha ha.... pretty cool old fart if you ask me.

      I also admire him.
      Your amp must really be something, I can't imagine him talking B.S. , worst case he would just say nothing and leave.
      Congratulations.

        I love all of the Transtube and DDT stuff. I'm interested in the solid-state side of things, and every time I think I've come up with a cool audio circuit, I look and sure enough, Peavey already have the patent on it. It used to p*** me off, but now I treat it as a compliment.

        I like the quote from Jack Sondermeyer, when he quit RCA to work at Peavey: "Those transistor datasheets are bullshit, and I know, I wrote them"

        And yeah, if Hartley Peavey liked your amp it must have been pretty good.

          So I popped his name into Google and stumbled upon this YouTube link. YouTube - Hartley Peavey Interview

          Two things.

          First, I always thought the Peavey name badge was very 80s metal. It was really wierd to see him putting it on old tube amps.
          Second, damn does he sound down to earth. If I were an EE, I'd want to work for him.
          I'll have to read through those tech notes.

            Steve - thanks for posting the link!

            I just got through reading the seven "white papers" and found them very interesting indeed...
