  • Peavey 6505 Problems

My first post. Am also a tube noob, so try not to chew me out too hard.

Anyway. I have a Peavey 6505 that works great at 4Ohms. I'm using an Marshall MAseries cab. Definitely not the best, but it's been holding up alright. The 6505 has Ohms settings for 4, 8, and 16. The cab has a 4Ohms and a 16Ohms input. with the head at 16Ohms and while using the 16Ohms input, the head makes next to zero sound. I know none of my tubes are bad.

I know I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

From the info you've given it does not appear that You are the problem.

The suspects in order - the switching jacks in that Marshall cab; the switch on the back of the head; output transformer; Amp Trolls.

Start diagnosing at the cab. Plug in a cable and measure resistance at the plug with an ohm meter. We'll go from there.
My rants, products, services and incoherent babblings on my blog.
