  • Fender Ultra Chorus amp

Hey guys, I was wondering if the power cord for my Fender Ultra Chorus amp is supposed to be 2 or 3 prong? Ever since I bought it a few years ago, it only had two prongs, but it looks to me like the third (ground) prong was broken off. If it is supposed to be three pronged, I want to take it apart and fix it so that it works properly.

I have the schematic for an Ultimate Chorus, but it doesn't show the end of the power cord anywhere on either page. I refinished the cabinet in white and painted the metal trim parts gold, and I just put it all back together yesterday after letting all of the paint cure for about two weeks, so I know it won't be hard to change out the cord if necessary. I just need to know if it's necessary or not.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

If it looks like the third prong was busted off, it was. And it should be repaired. You don't need to open the amp for this repair. Just go to the hardware store and buy a replacement three prong plug end. The white wire goes to the wide blade, the black wire goes to the narrow blade and the green wire goes to the ground post.

Thanks for the speedy reply, Chuck. That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to get a second opinion from someone with more experience before just going to it! Thanks again, man. That was way cool of you.
