Looking for ideas for my 2nd tube amp build. I'd fallen in love with the Matchless Lightning clone over at trinityamps.com but I wanted some other options. Here's a list of what I'm looking for:
Tube
18 watts or less (preferably less)
Tube rectifier
EL84 power tubes if possible
Less than $500 for parts and components (except for the empty head cab)
Preferably a kit, or a not-too-complicated circuit I could source and build
Favorite guitar tones: Cry of Love "Brother," Keith Urban's Ranch CD, damn near anything Dan Baird records.
Favorite players: Audley Freed, Dan Baird, Joe Walsh (James Gang), Billy Gibbons.
My guitars: Gibson SG Standard and Special, partscaster with Lil 59 in the bridge.
Dirt pedals: Klon clone, OCD, SHO.
Musical style: 70s-00s pop and rock, modern country.
Would be used with a 1x12 cab for rehearsals and gigging.
