First post, hope it's in the right spot, appologies if not.
I have a Jet City JCA2112RC, I really like the amp, but I have some questions....
As I play mostly rhythm, I run the amp with the gain on about 1-1.5 and the master on 9, that's my "clean tone". Then I use pedals for OD and Dist. I do some lead work in the band, and this is the easiest way to accomplish that on stage. Changing amp settings on the fly tends to upset sound guys...
But, because I'm a guitar player and like to "play with knobbies" at practice, I've noticed this in producing OD through the amp only. Obviously I already have the master maxed, so as I bring up the gain, it's all preamp gain, or seems so to me...I can't get any overdrive out of the power tubes. Someone told me he thought he had read that to be the case as well.
So here are my questions.
1. Is this true?
a. If so, why? Doesn't everyone like powertube overdrive, why was it designed to preclude that?
b. Can it be modified to produce powertube overdrive?
c. If it's not true, what am I doing wrong?
