  • Deluxemann...looking for critiques on schematic

I couldn't get any reposnse to what I wanted to hack together...so I drew it up anyway. Looking to weed out any potential problems. The preamp is a tweed bassman, Deluxe power section, and Princeton vibrato:

May I respectfully suggest you start by building a proven, time tested circuit?
You have less potential for frustration that way.
Otherwise, taking parts of different amps and mating them by force (shotgun marriage) may or may not work, in an unpredictable way.
And you are keeping bad traits of some of them, such as using a 2 prong wiring, death cap, switching "hot" but fusing "neutral" , hum causing unsymmetrical filament wiring, using the chassis as part of the filament wiring, plus you are leaving the first triodes without ground reference when unused and the "presence" control as shown will kill your tone controls.
    Don't start running, walk first.
    Good luck.

EDIT: not forgetting those unobtainable 600V caps.

I literally comped 3 fender schematics together...I just drew the 2 prong and death cap as shown...I'd never use 'em.

But if there was a tried and true amp design that fit my needs, I'd be all over it.

It's just frustrating to have people tell me I can't do something...I CAN build this...and CAN tailor it to my needs. I was hoping to get a little help in making it happen.

        Of course you CAN.
And there's no better place to ask for help than here.
And your questions are getting answered.
Go step by step and you'll reach further.
The real frustration is building something and then having endless "small" problems (such as your leaving those triodes without a DC patrh to ground) which drive you crazy.
        Good luck.

CAN is a great word, in one sense it means able, in another sense it is something full of beans. Go figure.

The devil is in the details. It looks easy to slap the preamp section of one page on the power amp section of some other page. But sometimes you find that the preamp on one thing was counting on the presence of the FX loop buffer (for example) to feed a power amp, and that buffer was not included in your cut and paste. Or power supply differences matter. etc etc.
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

A couple mistakes in the schematic. Have to go out, may get back to it tonight.

Also, why don't you verbally explain what you are trying to do with the first preamp stage, the "switching", stage bypass, parallel, and the 5K/w .1uf cap presence control?
There are a number of circuit errors and design flaws that can be easily fixed if you tell us where you want this to go.
I have made a small number of 20 watt, 6V6 Bassman circuited amps (my old Bassboy), others here probably have too.... so this should a simple project.

                Ehh, I'm a flake....decided against this...and am now building 2 amps...lol

                Starting off with a 5F11, and modding it as I go...and a Supro 1606. I had a '58 1606....miss it a bunch. It really only has one sound...but boy what a sound!

Turns out, Magnetic components was Valco's oem tranny supplier...they are litterally a 5 minute walk from my desk at work. They still do the small Supro tranny's...and I'll get the Deluxe OT for the Vibrolux...I already have a little beefier PT for it on order.

I work for a metal fabricator, and we specialize in stainless...I will be making my own chassis for both...should look killer.
