Anyone know Loggins and Messina's self titled album? The first track Good Friend has this bangin' quirky guitar tone. If I had to guess I'd say it's a solid state amp of some sort. If anyone has info on what Loggins was playing as far as guitar, pickups, and amp please post. It sounds strattish but kinda outa phase and hollow.

It sounds like custom wiring on the strat. Either all three pickups in parallel with one out of phase or the neck and middle in parallel with one out of phase and then corresponding changes to the amp tone to put the bottom end back in. I think this because I have a franken strat with a phase switch for the middle pickup."Take two placebos, works twice as well." Enzo

You can see Jim Mesinna doing some of it in the Angry Eyes Live Version.
Loggins And Messina ANGRY EYES live - YouTube
around 3:+ minute mark.
It is some of the Quake in pos. 2 & 4.
IMO If you raise the Pickups a bit you can get some of those quakie Tones."If Hitler invaded Hell, I would make at least a favourable reference of the Devil in the House of Commons." Winston Churchill
