  • ?8 ohm cab in parallel with 8 ohm dummy load?

    Hey all,

If I have an amp with a 4 ohm speaker out, can I plug in an 8 ohm speaker cab that is daisy chained to an 8 ohm dummy load for a total of 4 ohms? Are there any potential amp or speaker-damaging problems with that?

    Thanks!!

It won't hurt anything, but half the amp output will go to the dummy load and be turned into heat rather than sound.

Thanks, Enzo! Perhaps I'm worried for nothing - the amp manufacturer told me I could plug the 8 ohm cab in by itself with no trouble...
