  • Ampeg Gemini II on/off switch

    Hi All,

I'm hopefully putting the finishing touches on restoring a Gemini. It was mostly intact but the on/off and standby switches had been modded. What I'm concerned with is that the on/off needs to be a DPDT with enough capacity to handle the juice. Trouble is, the on/off switch hole is at the very bottom of an angled front. Even with the smallest switch in the bin, the lower throws touch metal. I'm sure I could rig up an insulator but I'd like to get this right without cheating. I could put it in sideways or swap the position with the standby (or cheat and redo the circuit).

    Any ideas? Thanks, Skip

a less complicated question: does anyone know if the DC operated lamps like mine are the same as the AC operated lamps of the early 1970's? I ran wall voltage into mine and it did light-up but wasn't really a beacon in the night. Now that there isn't a need for the polarity standby, I may as well put it on the on switch and have done with it. sh
