  • DSL 50 sometimes shares the Channel B master volume control

Ok Guys. I sure hope someone can help me with this one or even better, has seen this issue before. My DSL will switch channels fine for a little while but every so often switching back from Red channel to Green channel, Both channels volumes are now attenuated with the Channel B pot. The channel A pot is completely ot of the loop and has no affect. Both Pre's still operable but only one volume knob. The only way I can fix it is by toggling the standby switch off then on then the problem goes away, temporarally. Problem comes right back when I switch from ch. B to A again almost every time. It doesn't matter if I use a footswitch to change channels or if I use the front panel switch. Nor does it matter if I am using the effects loop. One other note that may help. This amp since day one from the store, the red Led always had a very faint glow when the green channel was engaged, bright red when red is used, but faint when Green is used. The only history with this amp is replaced tubes, outputs are Mullards and Pre's are JJ's. This problem would rarely happen and now is much more prominent with nothing changed. Anyone please help or add thoughts. I am thinking I have a sticky relay on the EQ board(front panel board)? Also, please let me know if this post should be somewhere else. I need this fixed, I love my DSL! Gary

My guess is that your guess is correct - a sticky relay. Just figure out which one controls the Master's and replace it. From what I can tell by glancing at the schematic, the glowing LED is probably caused by TR1's C-E junction conducting when it should be in cutoff. A leaky or low gain transistor could cause this. Try replacing it.
