I wouldn't throw in the towel yet. Your amp is probably on the verge of working. My questions about the current draw were more for the other more knowledgeable than me posters. They expressed concerns over the VA rating and DC on the tranny and I am thinking that your amp will not draw a lot of current based on my reading of data sheets. I wanted to see what they think. Anyhow, I thought we had made a good guess as to tube positions. Massive hum sounds ugly but is what happens when caps are old. I also think if you swap the rectifier and power tube by mistake out put will be nothing at all, so that is not surprising. I t sounds like you ordered a new multi cap . Does the old one have any markings as to which leads go to what section? The cap is basically three caps in parallel with a common ground. The new one will be the same with usually a black wire on one end which is the common neg end and colored wires on the other end one for each section. To replace the old cap you just need to solder the wires in the right spot replacing the old ones.

Yes I got the Cap and will try it out to see if there is any difference. I ordered a book that will tell me allot more of what I need to know maybe I will try the new cap while I am waiting for the book to get here the people I bought the amp from ( in none working order) sent me a pic of the amp and tubes before they removed them they are 12AV6 35W4, and 50C5 left to right looking from the back in that order the amp makes no sound , They have done who knows what to the amp to try to make it work so once I get the new multi cap installed I will try both ways of tube placement to see if maybe it will work thanks for the advice and help
