Might take you up on that, but compressor repair is usually a 12 -14 hour day so free time is not always a given....

CUSTOM AMP30: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE........SEND YOUR CHASISS TO PEAVEY in Maridian, miss.
You have me thinking now that your idea of sending it back into the factory may be a good idea if they can solve these issues with this amplifier. Did you have a contact person in customer serve that I can arrange this, or just a random call for a quote. After all its their design, and all. I do like that sound of that old beast.. I'll check on line and see what I can find out about this. Thanks for that suggestion>

Does your Mace have a power amp input or FX return jack? If not you could add one and use it as a power amp for another amp head or combo amp when you need the added power. I've noticed that the preamp out on Amp A doesn't always match the power amp input on Amp B- sometimes the preamp out signal is too weak to properly drive the power amp. So you might need to do some circuit mods to get the levels right.

Best of all you could still use it as a Mace- a legendary amp that I've heard many people rave about when the topic of Peavey amps is brought up.

FWIW I have repaired some circuit board traces using an appropriate size of solder wick. I believe it is made from a copper braid with some flux in it so it would be a good idea to clean off the excess flux when you are done.

I like to use a 62/36/2 silver bearing solder as a higher temperature solder- it works really well. I usually use it when I want one end of a component or jumper to not melt when I solder the other lead. But I should be using it on pcb tube sockets, too. I got a 1/2lb roll of it for $15 when Fry's was phasing it out. In my book if it doesn't have lead in it, it ain't solder!

Thanks for the suggestions Steve, I will see what I can do before I let it travel elsewhere out the door for repairs.

Clearing off a area to work on this. recently moved into a larger house but limited space for a place inside with my work equipment needing a different place for storage, having moved away from a place that was sold which had given me that extra storage space as well as a old wooden, four car service bay garage and a place to park the car trailer.

Now I'm in suburbs or People farms until I can return to the country.

Now my battle is move the engine hoist, roll the engine and dolly outside and stop the folks next door coming over to nose around while I'm trying get something done, what ever, I need a place to tear this amp down for another look, and the hood of my truck is a really bad idea... Again Thanks! Your suggestions will be taken very seriously.. I didn't realize just how much stuff was in here until you roll it out onto the driveway...
