  • Really any difference hotrod deluxe Red, White, Green...?

As The title says. Is there really any difference between these amps??

    Is this another test?
    The color?

I got one in now that is a nice two tone brown and cream, with bone color chicken head knobs. very attractive. I had a snakeskin one too, and at first I was put off, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. The red ones look nice. I have not seen a green one, and am not much of a green fan. Well other than maybe Peter Green.

What are you asking? They put different color tolex on the wood, the insides are all the same.

It's extremely difficult to recommend an appropriate amp color without knowing the color of your guitar.

I am hard core on that. I believe guitars should be one of two things: natural wood, or sunburst. Period. NO puke green, no Van Halen stripes. No skulls. Sorry kids.

I am flexible on amps though. I like a cream tolex with oxblood grille cloth. Classic black tolex with gray or black grillecloth is fine.

OH and I loved those Mesa polished wood cabs with the light tan cane grilles.

Really? Not even a trans. red SG, or 335? What about a Black LP custom? butterscotch Telly?

Nope, natural or sunburst. I leave the candy apple sparkle one to everyone else.

My strat is white, but it is a Wayne's World Squire, and that limits my options.

I get that totally, and i'm almost with ya on this. But I would have to add a few to the list .....vintage white or any variation of butterscotch or white trans finish. I bet you probably like those too Enzo. Come on....they are as natural and classy as natural and burst. But i have 4 guitars at the moment, and 3 are bursts and one natural. So I know where you're coming from.

I like looking at the wood grain and knowing it is not painted on, or (shudder) photo-finish.

My Jazz Bass looks like it just came out of a tree.

Now I think those old Paisley fender guitars are cool, but still not for me.

If I have a guilty pleasure, I will admit I always had a hankering for one of those Hello Kitty guitars.

What were those minimalist guitars from about 20 years ago? Small bodies, no headstock. never could like the look of those.

                  Steinbergers, that's what they were.

what you really need, Enzo, is the Hello Kitty Wall of Sound!

                        Hi All.
LMAO at all of the replies. My question really is more geared towards the "sound" difference between these amps. Differences in the circuit between these different colored amps.....

Enzo said earlier that the circuitry inside the different coloured Hotrod Deluxes is identical. I think he is a Fender service centre and fixes a lot of them, so he should know.

All my guitars are either natural wood or sunburst too. I also loved those Mesa wooden cabs but could never afford one back when they were making them.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

Do the blue Toyotas ride different from the red Toyotas?

It is just color on the cabinet.

I refuse to play a red guitar in church. I think it is against my religion. Now the metallic sparkle blue, set off by the guitar strap with the lightning bolt, is something else. It has a much more 'ethereal' quality to it, and is suitable for family-oriented music. Yeah, no skulls here either.
