Why can't I attach files? The curser just spins and spins like it's trying but no joy. I do see attachments on others posts.

I have the same problem. I've been told it's something to do with IE and that it works with Chrome/others. Still, there should be a way to make it work across all browser platforms. I can upload on other sites, so although the issue is with IE, I'm not entirely certain it's the fault of IE. And, since I have a limited knowledge of "webery", I'll shut up now.

I got to where I could not upload anything, as you describe. That was using IE. I have Chrome on my system, I had downloaded it inadvertantly but never used it. But it does allow me to upload stuff. I don;t think it is directly IE's fault, I think IE gets corrupted. SOme bit somewher gets erased and then it stops working in some aspect. Probably reinstalling IE would correct it, but I can;t be bothered. Much as I don;t want to use Chrome, I am on it now in self defense.

I run IE and also have Windows Task Manager (the Ctrl-Alt-Del thing) running so I can see CPU and network usage. When I upload a pic, I can see the data move across the network, then the CPU redlines at 100%. I can see that IE is hogging the CPU so I kill that process, then re-start IE. I go back to the thread where I want to post a reply, click the Reply button, then Restore Saved Content, > Go Advanced, > Manage Attachments. The pic(s) is(are) now in the gallery with the other things I've posted. At this point everything works like it's supposed to, I can tag and attach pics.

I'm going to preface this by saying I know little about it or I'd have a different job and be making a lot more money. A wonder of mine is, though, if the problem is that IE gets corrupted, why do I not have the problem on other sites?

Have you ever looked at the forums where web geeks discuss technical issues for Linux and web pages? I have no idea what they are talking about but most of those guys would be lost in a tube amp, haha ! A guy I know was studying for a Master degree in oscillator design. He walked into the lab one day and the two grad students that tought the class were heating up two wires twisted together and one says "I've seen this, the wires just melt together". He didn't understand the concept of solder.

I'd also like to say, for the record, that my comments should not be misconstrued as "bitching". To all those who make this forum what it is, THANK YOU! It's a great resource.

If I click on "manage attachments", then a window appears and then disappears. If I click it a second time then the window pops back up and I can use it as normal. Not sure if this helps or not...

Nope. Others had it right. I get the window but it doesn't offer all the navigation. I need to sign on with Google Chrome when I want to attach something.

I had to switch to chrome. I have had too many problems interfacing with other sites, especially when trying to pay bills on line. There is something incompatible with IE when other servers/sites are upgraded. It was especially bad for Time Warner Cable. Don't know what the issue is, but this isn't the only place where IE doesn't work right anymore.

Are we all using the latest and , ahem, greatset IE version.
It may be a V Bulletin thing, on this site.
They may have written there code to utilize the latest IE code.
There has been a rash of stuff going on here & elsewhere with robots & stuff hidden in links.
If it is a backwards incompatabilty (older IE versions) then it is what it is.
Newer versions of IE require newer operating sytems.
There is a reason that XP is not supported.
It was a tad too popular & the hacks dug into it pretty good.
It simply could not be updated further for all of the security holes.

I'm running Windows 7 and IE10. My problems with uploading files seemed to start, though I can't be positive, after the IE10 upgrade. While I can't say for sure it wasn't some other "upgrade" window threw at my computer, I can say for certain that things worked fine with IE9.

I run XP with IE8, and i had lots of problems attaching files, i could add one file, but in the attachment window i couldn't click on "done" or the whole IE would freeze, i had to leave the attachment window & just submit the reply, with one attachment only. I then had to restart IE by CTL-ALT-DEL...

Out of sheer frustration I tried chrome today, and the attachment window got to 28% file upload & stopped there, i couldn't even upload one file.
I then tried Firefox, and have no issues, so i will just need to use Firefox for this forum now.

How complicated do things need to get?!? Now we need to use specific browsers for certain websites?!? I hate Chrome. The image quality sucks and I don't want to dig in and learn a new browser to block all the damn popups it has. I only use it when I need to attach files right now.

I use Firefox and Adblock plus (both free) and have very few browsing issues, ZERO pop-ups, and I haven't had to watch a single youtube ad when clicking a video.
