  • Wrong value for screen resistors on Hot Rod Deluxe - will this matter?

I had R62 on my Hot Rod deluxe burn up, I presume because of a bad tube. http://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/dow...=322434‎

I cleaned up the carbon, installed 510Ohm 1W resistors for R61 and R62 because it was the closest value I had on hand. Schematic calls for 470 1W, and that is what was in there, according to color code at least...

Will that make a big difference in sound, longevity, etc? Will that thow off the number I get at the test point to bias the new tubes?

I dread taking apart that whole thing again. At some point I'm going to break something muscling those PCBs in and out, and my troubleshooting skill isn't very good...

It will be exactly the same, don't worry. The screen resistor value is not at all critical, maybe you would have noticed some difference in tone if you put, say, 2k

I would have fitted 1K 5Watt as a matter of routine. Added protection for the output tube, a little more compression in the power amp (which you probably won't notice). Every 6L6 I ever see gets this done to it. Never had anyone even comment on a sonic change.
        Cheers,
