Can bias too high current cause cracking noise?

    For 33mA through 6V6 at 400V, power dissipation is 13.2W, 1.2W over the max recommended 12W. That's not too too bad. I don't even think it will be red tubed.

      Probably not... I always bias with the scientific Ear Method. When the amp sounds good I check current/voltage so that I haven't got it all wrong.
      In this forum everyone is entitled to my opinion.
