  • Ampeg VT 40 reverb hum.

On my bench i have a VT 40 which has a reverb hum around about 5 on the reverb control knob. Anything below 5 is somewhat tolerable. The tank is mounted to the cover plate so it's inches from the electronics. It has new tubes and i've tried another known good tank. Hum still there. V202 in think is the reverb send tube. Remotely mount the tank? I'll reflow all the solder joints and see if that matters. Thanks.

Is it the stock tank? I'm wondering about the grounding scheme of the tank jacks.

And is it plugged in/mounted correctly.

Make sure that the output side of the tank is away from the power transformer.

Thanks everyone. I just mounted the tank in the bottom of the cabinet like a Fender and now it's quiet as a mouse. Problem solved.
