I hope this does not sound sarcastic. I just want to make sure I use correct terminology next time. Thanks guys for your help

Just to try to give you a better idea of what may have been happening, the arcing may have been due to an intermittent connection at the J7 terminal. When the connection would open, the spark would jump the gap creating the arc. So the presence of arcing does not necessarily mean a short, although that can be the case.
There was probably a bad solder connection at the J7 lug, or the trace may have been broken there.
So originally, there should have been a short (equivalent of a piece of wire) between the blue wire and pin7. The short went open (no connection) and started arcing. You bypassed the open by providing a new short and making a direct connection from the blue to pin7.
Hope that makes some bit of sense.

      Thanks! That's good terminology
I should have added also that I removed the terminal (lug) @ J7 and cleaned the pad and soldered it back. The circuit board was black in front of J7 also. I need to take the time to explain more. I do this stuff here and there they the week and forgot a lot of it lol
