  • Having a hard time finding a pot - 500K-L w/ P-P SPST switch

panel mount, solder lug, amp potentiometer.

Tried Mouser, Digi-Key, AES, Mojo, etc. Even looked on Ebay and nothing came up. Any help or am I just going to have to install separate switches? Seems like it wouldn't be too tough of a part to find...

How about this one, but a audio taper.

For single pole, just use half of it. they have it in a 250k, and in a 500k

Was hoping for a solid shaft, and whatever the typical diameter is for use in vintage style guitar amps. Those might do though, everything else looks right... Thanks!

Wait a sec, the ebay one doesn't mention what type of switch it is.. ccw off or push/pull.. I'm looking for push/pull

And the second one may work but the body might be too long.

I'm looking for this exact pot but in 500k-L : https://www.tubesandmore.com/products/R-VC1MA-PP

If it's a volume or master control, just use the 1M which is available and call it a day.

            Where will you use it?

            Post the schematic.

If it's associated to a bright cap you might need to adjust its value so crossover frequency stays the same.

Why not contact Jim Kelley. jimkelleyamps@gmail.com Lately working at John Suhr's factory, he's revived the amp line. Unless they're on holiday vacation, I bet you email Monday and you'll get an answer, part available or suggested replacement or no go.
This isn't the future I signed up for.

He probably wouldn't appreciate me building a copy of his amp

Albeit I'm not making any money on it. I'm building it as a trade to a guy that's building me a guitar.

Yeah that pot on EBay does not say whether or not it is a push pull or rotary switch. It looks rotary.

                      I see three switches.
1: Volume 1 meg A/ switch for Bright
                      2: Mid boost
                      3: Presence

                      It's not indicated where 2 & 3 go.
                      Mid boost on Bass pot?
                      Presence on Treble pot?
That's how i would do it.

Edit: the above is from the schematic.

                      The current head is different.
                      Vol is Gain/ Presence
                      Treble is Treble Boost
                      Bass is Mid Boost.

It even has a 1/2 power switch.

Jim Kelley? KILLER amps, very well made and very advanced, groundbreaking design ideas.
                        My full respect to him

Given what it is, if you don't get the specified pots , respect his values and add small toggle switches besides or below each pot.

Pity he couldn't hold it against the Asian onslaught (fueled by US capital and politics) .

The values will be respected as much as possible. One value that I'm not sure I'll be able to find is the .15 caps that couple to the power stage. On one hand I would think that there wouldn't be a noticeable difference, but on the other hand it's a difference of 50% and there must be some reason he used them given that .1 uF caps have always been widely avbailable.

oh yeah, and if you're curious enough, here's an eyelet board layout I came up with from the schematic. It all fits on one board, won't need a doghouse, and will easily fit into a Bassman sized chassis (20 1/4"). The chassis could be even shorter if the reverb tank weren't so long.
