  • Ampeg Gemini II diodes

I'm working on rebuilding a '67 Ampeg Gemini (7591s/7199), and I'm having a hard time figuring out what rectifier diodes I need. The schematic has them labeled XV-24C, I can't seem to find anything with that reference number. I'm getting caps from Fliptops, they have 1A 1000v and 1400v diodes- will one of those work, or am I on the wrong path entirely? I think I have some 1N4007s around too, which are 1A 1000V as well, IIRC.

    Schematic is here-

    Thanks!

First - Are the original diodes bad? If not then just leave them in place. An overhaul of an amp does not necessarily require replacing the rectifier diodes.

However, if the original rectifier diodes test bad then I would replace them with two 1N4007s in series for each side of the full wave rectifier circuit. Or use the 1400V rated diodes.

    Cheers,
    Tom
