i've decided to put it to a vote as my budget allows---- Hartke 12" 70watt ,,,,or Fender rumble 12" ,100 watt?????
I do rather like playin my drums a lot better...
Hartke's signature alum cone speaker sounds - to me - like it avoids 'flub' and keeps the highs tight and clean. More of a modern/hi fi sound, maybe?
If it still won't get loud enough, it's probably broken. - Steve Conner
If the thing works, stop fixing it. - Enzo
We need more chaos in music, in art... I'm here to make it. - Justin Thomas
MANY things in human experience can be easily differentiated, yet *impossible* to express as a measurement. - Juan Fahey
EVERYTHING... depends on your stage volume and the style of music you are performing. I play a lot of clubs wiith a lot of people. I hate it when a bass player shows up with a 1000 watt SVT or something.. Lately it's been a lot of Mark amps and GKs and such. To me what sounded the best lately was a Fender Rumble 150 (one 15" speaker I think) with a DI to the PA. But I was using a 20 watt guitar amp through one 12" speaker open back. Ears don't ring. You can hear the vocal harmonies in the monitor mix. Also tone is in the hands no matter what you play through.
