Well I do love the sound of my Ampeg B25B which is 55W, loud enough to make your neighbours call the police (even a 4W champ is anyway) but a little on the weak side when playing with a loud band. Makes my jazzbass sound veeeery sweet.
I bought it on evilbay for a ridiculous 300$ or so, actually the import fees from US to Belgium were half the price of the amp

When my old band recorded our CD I went direct into the board. My bass (Fender Jazz USA) sounded a.w.e.s.o.m.e.! But for gigging I love my Ampeg SVTIII (non-pro) and even though it's a SS power amp it still sounds sweet. Not to mention it'll rattle the house without any trouble. I run it through one or two single EV SRO 15" in home-built EV cabinets. The cab design really does make a difference. I used to use my Peavey 410 Pro cab but that's too much for the bars we play in and it's a beast to haul around.

I may give that B15 a shot one of these days, I like the small design.

He's like a new set of strings... he just needs to be stretched a bit.

Orange Tiny Terror Bass sounds pretty good too, with the advantage of being super light because of class D output stage, with 500W of power. Doesn't come very cheap though (600€ IIRC)
Beware, it doesn't like AT ALL funny wiring at the cab side, I had a few on my bench with burnt power transistors in the switching PSU because some clever guy tried to connect the cab output to the output of another amp, or similar stupid things
